All you need is LOVE !!!

Well this Friday's challenge is Love. I went with a Valentine because that reminds me of love. When my DH was still alive we always made Valentine's day a special time to go out to dinner, hold hands, share loving comments and really enjoy our time together. I miss that but don't want a pity party believe me, instead I want all you lovers out there to be sure and do just what I suggested and enjoy each other . This card is done on a gold cardstock with burgundy mat ( looks more red but it is very wine colored) gold embossing, some cute stick on hearts from Hobby Lobby .

Update on the old dude at the Dollar General...I walk in and he is sporting a neck brace, wow I ask what happened and he says he took a nasty spill on the ice and hurt his neck. I'm so bad I'm thinking he probably got one of those long gold chains he wears caught in the cash register drawer, slammed it and got whip lash. My head was working in that direction and I had to walk away as I was ready to burst out in laughter. Poor old Dude!

Happy weekend again...do something exciting like watch the superbowl with friends. Be sure to make some great dips, buy beer, chips, and you'll have all the friends you could ever ask for. Myself I prefer wine, with some good cheese and crackers ...that's called sophistication!

Birdie Turned Ten

Well my adorable "other" granddaughter turned ten and since she is not a girly girl I have to be very simple and plain in gifting her....so, I made her a journal/diary. She will decide what it is and how to use it. She loves the color blue so I did this with some great paper from a scrap pad that DD gave me. It's Colorbok and it has co-ordinating papers. The colors all match but I have some flowers along with strips. Simple to just cut and paste and put a wee "M" for Madison on the note pad. The big paper clip can keep track of where she has last writen. I used to babysit her from the time she was about 1 year old but I had to give it up when the family went from 1 to 3. This old broad can't race after kids like I used to. This darling girl's nickname is Birdie and that's what I will always call her, although she now is professionally known as Madison. We have a date for an after school outing on Friday and I have some money in a card that I know she will have fun spending.
In case you haven't noticed, I have now received 3490 Valentines in the drive for 1000. I have taken the liberty to call our local hospital's children's cancer center and they will happily take some of the extras. Hope that is Ok with everyone. I figure it still is Cards 4 Kids and they are all sick children so why not share the gold.

Friday Challenge...Modern Edge

Well today's challenge was to deliver a card with a "modern" edge. I know everyone will have a different take on this but all that popped in my head was the word modern. I love to use black and white, so for this card that's the way I went. Very plain useage of my Spellbinder's label 2 die cut both in black and white and then I added a silver sticker of a modern heart. Some fancy schamansy paper from my buddy Mike's cut on an angle like my modern edge is and I'm done.

Below you see I dropped down my phraseology ( that means phrase in old fashion talk but we are in a modern mode). Simple and easy and that's what it's all about.

Well it's time for the weekend, so as always, hope it's a goodie one and if you have nothing better to do....just stamp!

RAK with a Wow factor

This stupendous work of art came from Karen of http://6wackywomen.blogspot.com/ When I opened her donation to the card program, she had sent me this absolutely beautiful card with a Valentine wish inside. I know this is pergamano ( I think that's how you spell it) along with some very lovely thread weaving and that I'm not remembering what it is called...starts with a B. Wow Karen, this is so beautiful, I just took the liberty of sharing it my other blogging friends. Karen is a Canadian friend from the London area. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and giving me a great excuse for not making a card to post today. Just kidding eh! Love it.

Please Read and Please Do As asked

First of all I want to thank all of you that have sent in cards for the program Cards 4 Kids, the outpouring of talent has been totally amazing. I do have a problem that I need to address and that is this....I have received many boxes and envelopes that once opened I am hit with the odor of cigarette smoke that is lingering on the cards. The problem is many of the sick children have respiratory difficulties and for them to receive a card that could further impare their breathing is just not a safe issue for them to deal with. So, if you are a smoker and are making cards for this program, I would appreciate as would the staff and the hospital, that you would not smoke in the area of your crafting. I know that those of you that smoke are not aware that this smoke odor stays with the papers. Thanks for listening and please try to adhere to this small request. I am trying to air out the smoke odor so these cards can get to the little ones who love getting them. Pat, and all at Children's Hospital of Michigan.

Call 911 Granny is celebrating her birthday

Well this old sweetie is going to need help putting out the fire with all those candles to deal with.
The challenge at notimetostamp is to do something related to "senior citizens" and what better way then to celebrate a milestone birthday. That's the way my cake would look this year, but I prefer just putting on one candle so I can blow it out without any help.
This is an Art Impressions oldie but goodie stamp done with colored pencils, a bit of glitter, Just Rite for the phrase, and my Spellbinder die cuts and punch for flower. Easy but gets the point across.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend...yep it's that time again. Where did the days go???

Happy birthday Tina's Grandpa Frank

This is my card for Tina's grandfather Frank who turns 88 years old on the 21st. of this month.
Lola is just hoping his day just bubbles over with fun and that's what she tells him on the inside of this card. This is an Art Impressions stamp and the Happy Birthday is from Just Rite. I stamped and then colored with my trusty water colored pencils. Did you notice Lola's blue diamond??? Never heard of a blue diamond....well if not it's because they are so $$$$ . It's one of those things that if you have to ask the price, well then you can't afford it. Hope Frank has a wonderful 88th. birthday with many more to come.

Friday Challenge...It's still winter

Well I tried and somewhat succeeded in making a frost-like look for my background using just white ink and a crumpled up piece of toweling. Inked it up and blotted it on a piece of clear like
acetate ( but I used a cut up clear bag). My card stock is black and I used my Nesties for the oval and oval scallop. My tree is a SU stamp and it's done in white embossing powder and ink. I put some Prism glitter here and there but don't know how well it photo'd. My snowflake is a Spellbinder die cut and I added a black bling stick on, a bit of white satin ribbon and voila I'm done. If you click on the card and get a bigger picture, you can see my Jack Frost look. And just in case you didn't know, it is still winter here in Michigan . My favorite thing about winter is ....it gets dark early so if I stay in my PJ's all day, heck I'm always ready for bed.

Have a great week end fellow stampers and keep those fingers inky.

10 + 20 = I'm getting some done!

Well this cute little sleeping bear looks soft and cuddly and I hope the children will like him as much as I do. Made 10 today as it was a lazy day for me. I felt like I deserved a little rest after answering appoximately 200 e-mails for my Cards 4 Kids program Valentine's Day quest. I had this old stamp in my stash for Valentine cards and it is a cutie patootie by Suzy's Zoo, the phrase is by ( sorry don't know) and the little greeting is from Inky Antics. I feel like my buddy bear looks and so I'm heading off to bed. Big day tomorrow as the Poverty Program will reopen and it's time to feed the hungry people. Thanks blogging friends for all the help you have pledged to give....I Love you all !

Friday Challenge....can you say "Thank You" ?

Well it is Stamp Simply so I did just that. Used chocolate brown card stock and some sweet K& Co. background paper, my Nestie's Label # 2 die cut and before you know it I'm done. A bit of chocolate grograin ribbon and viola...fini ( that's French you know). My stamp is Stampendous.
Now I have a confession, and as confession is good for the soul....I had a little sneaky hint from DD as to what the challenge was late last night and since I was so busy with Valentine's I did mine before checking with Sharon's blog notimetostamp. Well when I saw her card I about wet my panties because it looks like I cased her but being the sweet little old lady I am...I did not.
This is my own card and so there ! Happy weekend to you all and keep those fingers inky.
