Cards 4 Kids Challenge

I am offering you all a challenge that only you can help fulfill. I would like to have 1000 Valentine's Day cards for the children at Children's Hospital of Michigan. Yep, you read it correctly I did say 1000. There are 238 beds at the hospital and I would like to provide the kids with more then just one card. I would and so would the staff, like to get enough cards so the kids can exchange them, send them out to friends at school, or home to their parents and or siblings.

These can be cards with envelopes or just a post card style card. You don't sign the card as the kids and staff will be using them to make the kids have the best Valentine's Day ever. So if you want to get on the wagon and get those fingers inky I would love to have your help. I know we can and will do this and as an added incentive I will offer up some candy. Can't take a picture of it as I haven't bought it yet but it will be good. Sooooo.....are you in?? You can send me your intent to help at
mrsmiley6@aol.com and I will give you my address or if you leave a reply that I can answer at a blog sight then we are good to go. I know that you are all wonderful people so I don't think this appeal will be defeated. Thanks in advance and watch out for my blog candy posting. Pat

EDITED TO ADD: When some of the gals heard about my challenge, they decided to offer up blog candy to sweeten the deal! The lovely Jennifer Buck will have some fun treats at her space as will my DD Julie over at Out To Impress! So check them out!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

I have, as many of you have, been too busy to stamp but you are all still on my mind. I want to take just a moment to wish you all a blessed holiday season with family and friends. Here in Michigan we are snowed under but doing well. So at this time I want to thank those who sent me personal Christmas cards...thank you so much and I apologize for not doing that but my program at the food bank kept me too busy for cards to many people. So please know I love you all and I wish you all....Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, and a Happy 2009 to one and all. You are the best!

Friday Challenge 10 Minute Card

Wow, I have some exciting news to share with you...In case you haven't heard Scrabble turns 60 this year. Can you believe that??? I almost had a radiator leak when I found this out. I love Scrabble and play it all the time on the computer and I always win even though I have to admit to you....I CHEAT !!! There is a spot which gives you "best words" with tons of points & I use it,but I only do it when nobody is watching. Ask my SIL Ken, he gets a bit testy over it and always catches me in the act.

Anyway here is my card for the Friday challenge at Sharon's blog no time to stamp. She wanted us to do a 10 min. or less card and so I did what I often do, I used stickers. Yep you read right, just some cute peel off stickers, a bit of glitter glue, some dollar store ribbon , do a bit of matting and you are done. Easy peasy. Can't share the name of what kind of stickers because I got them from Janine ( 2bkrafty) through the mail. Love them and they are so great for a fast card.

Working hard at the Poverty Program handing out the toys and dinners. We do it for 3 days and then we are done for this year.

Happy weekend to you all. And to me too. Keep your fingers inky .

Friday Challenge 2 inches of DP

Well this is an easy one or is it??? I have to confess I did have some difficulty at first trying to figure out what to do since you could only use the DP one time. This is what I did, the strip is a 2" piece of paper I got in Billings and there is no name stamped on the back but I thought it was cool to have green for a winter type paper. I know as kids we were told never to eat "yellow" snow but what about "green"...maybe it's pistachio? Yikes I don't think I have ever seen green snow flakes...thank goodness. So anyway I have my DP, then used my Spellbinder's snowflake die cuts with some added glue on sparkly snow flakes from Mike's place and some bling in the centers. My Merry Christmas is a SU rub-on. How easy this turned out after all.
Well it's the weekend and I hope you all have a wonderful one. I'm going to a Christmas concert on Sunday and I love this show. I go each year and have been going for about 8 years now. The choir has at least 50-60 voices, the orchestra is about 75-100 and they are just terrific. After the concert all us old broads go to dinner and have a few of my favorite "dirty martinis". Who knows maybe some dirty old men will show up and buy them for us...ya never know.

Friday Challenge...non traditional Christmas card

Well this is as close as I can get to being non-traditional for Christmas. I know what you're thinking, I could use bright gaudy colors, ribbons, etc. but I was in a quiet mood today ( all that left over Prozac from my turkey dressing) so I went for a soft blue and white. I really mixed up my usage on this card as I used my Nestabilites, lovely don't know what you call it die-cut, some snow flakes by Hero Arts, a wonderful snowman sticker from Penny (that's Penny of the Penny Black group), the phrase is from Flourishes and the ribbon was found in Big Sky at a great shop called Sisters. So I just jumped from box to bin and ink to powders and came up with this little number. Word to the wise...Don't try to bring a snowmen in the house no matter how much they beg....they have a bad tendency to make a mess, once they start to melt, well there's no stopping them.

Tonight I will help with a dinner for children in foster care. I am going to help them make Christmas cards for their foster parents and their biological parents. Tomorrow is shopping day for a group home for mentally challenged adults. We are going to K-Mart for their Christmas gifts. Sunday is a woman's retreat at our church and I hope I can stay awake for it. Too much happening. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and keep those fingers dirty.

Cute cards 4 kids

Well aren't these cards just so cute??? The answer is YES ! The little reindeer card came in a box of cards from my new best friend Mary Schreiber who lives in Maine and the sweet polar bear card with snowy caps out of liquid applique is from Jeanette Waters who is a doll from South
Carolina y'all. You ladies are too sweet for words to keep up your support in the Cards 4 Kids program. I thank you, the kids thank you, the hospital thanks you, and well the whole darn world thanks you. Did you get that??? Thank you very much with a big hug attached.

Three Singing Christmas Mice

These little guys are not to be confused with my singing tenors who also numbered three. This is Larry, Harry, ( should be Hairy), and Schmow, and they are getting ready for the big event this Friday night. I'm presenting them at a dinner party for foster kids and they will be part of some cards the kids will make for their foster parents and or biological parents. I was blown away when I was told I would handle the craft table for card making that would host 60-80 kids. I said to myself....take it easy, you can and you will do this. Yeah right! Anyway, I am making some simple cards for them to follow and this is one of them. Kind of patriotic in colors but they can color the little guys any way they want. This mice stamp or should I say mouse stamp is one I got in a dollar bin many moons ago , and is made by Westwater Expressions ( out of China) and the little snowflake is from Stampendous. Just used my water colored pencils and the snowflake was done with denium colored ink. I'll probably change up the color scheme but it's a start. I have cut for 20 cards so far and only another 60 or so to go. Where's the Xanax???? After this I won't be laid back, I'll be konked out.

Happy Thanksgiving

I got this wonderful card from Mary Schrieber who was the winner of my part of the Cards 4 Kids drawing over at Cherly Moody's blog. What a nice surprise and a perfect card to say Happy Thanksgiving to all of you here in the states. I'm pretty sure she used a cuttlebug folder or whatever they are called to get the embossed workings.
Hope you all have a laid back day....as Maxine would say " If you want a laid back Thanksgiving,
stuff your turkey with Prozac ". Ya gotta love that crazy old broad. I plan to use a bit of wine myself to get that feeling, but only after the meal is on the table.

Friendship Award

To the right you will see a special friendship award given to someone who you have met and formed a space-like friendship because of their creativity and or their pleasantness etc.
I want to pass this on to my friends in outer space better known as blogland....
Bela- http://belascreatingplace.blogspot.com/, Cheryl http://lifesrailroadtracks.blogspot.com/
Diane http://ddnjoys2stamp.blogspot.com/ ,Joanne http://stamps4sanity.blogspot.com/ Curt
http://curtsplayhouse.blogspot.com/ and Karen http://6wackywomen.blogspot.com/ You are all special and I'm glad you are in my blog life.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

The last few days I have been busy at the Francican Poverty Program making up and then passing out the makings for Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. This year we had to scale back to 350 families as we just didn't get the donations we needed. Yesterday and today we passed out the groceries and turkeys to those in need. We also gave 150 filled baskets to 2 very poverty strickened churches in the inner city of Detroit. I feel very blessed to be a part of a team that does this work for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is very heart breaking to see what is happening here in Michigan with so many out of work and having to beg for the first time in their lives. So when you sit down to your Thanksgiving dinner, remember to say a prayer for those who are without a job, or a home, or anything to eat. Take a moment to thank the Lord for your many blessings. I know I will do that. Have a beautiful Thanksgiving.
I'll be back to card making come Friday.

And the winner of my blog candy is....

Well I put all the names in a bag and pulled out the winner. So who is this lucky ducky??? It's Robin Kirkpatrick that's who. Thanks to you all for playing and better luck next time.

Say it with ribbon...Friday Challenge

Well we all have that special friend from our childhood or at least I hope you do, and mine was Elinor White. She and I spent our summer days laying on our backs in our "blanket tent", eating a sleeve of crackers and day dreaming. I'm the cute adorable blonde on the right of this image and Ellie ( that's what she is called now) is the silly looking one on the left. Where did she get that hat? Well, I'll tell you a secret about me growing up....my Mom wouldn't let me shave my legs until I was like 13 yrs. old and I should have wore knee high socks to hide the fur that was growing on my legs. She had a good point though...once you start you have to keep it up. Well I went to school with band aids all over my legs after the first time and you gotta admit, Moms are pretty smart cookies and when they tell you something it's for a good reason. Anyway that's my card for using ribbon with a message, and my message is...we all need to cherish our best friends. Elinor and I are still friends even though she lives in New Jersey now. We see each other every summer when she comes back to Michigan to their summer cottage.
Have a great weekend everyone and keep those fingers inky.

Happy Birthday DD Julie

Well picture this if you can...I'm a huge pregnant woman with swollen feet the size of an elephant's and because it is snowing an inch a minute I need to get on boots. What do I do??? Thank goodness for mothers, as mine was ready to help this big humongous bellied woman get some boots on so she can go to the hospital and deliver her darling baby girl. Where is the father during all this you ask....well I scream asked that very question and his gentle reply from his office telephone, " I'm writing a report I have to get out and I'll meet you at the hospital as soon as I finish. Well needless to say I'm not a happy cramper ( labor pains hurt a bit ) so I scream & holler to no avail getting madder by the minute but give up and head for the hospital. I won't tell you how mad I was, I think you get the picture. Anyway DH shows up several hours later as calm as can be, asking how I'm doing. How the *@#*#* blankidy blank do you think I'm doing...I'm in labor ! Well after 26 blissfull hours,( yeah, right!) I was finally in the delivery room having my DD Julie. I guess you wonder why I have Raggedy Ann on for her birthday wishes. Well back in the day, everyone did pink or blue nurseries and I did red, white, and blue with Raggedy Ann and Andy. It was a cute room for an adorable baby, my Julie. So, Happy Birthday Julie and even though I can't be with you, you are in my heart as you are with your Dad ( who sends his love from heaven). I won't tell everyone how old you are cause I know you'd kill me but I will give them a hint....thirty....what rhymes with mate??? Can you guess?? Ya can if you think about it a little. Go on over to her blog and wish her a happy day.

Friday Challenge...Different Fold

Well as you can see I baked sugar cookies...the first of the season and guess what??? I didn't even burn them. My one little ginger bread boy looks a little over baked but he's not burned. This is an old card I redid for the challenge over at Sharon's place...notimeto stamp. You are to do a different fold so here's mine. The card actually has 2 4 1/4" scores and then just a 2 " one that folds over from the left. These are De Namie stamps done with a brown tone ink pad and colored with water colored pencils and then chalked a bit and used some Stickles to make the sugar look. Didn't photo well but in real life it's sparkly.

These are cute little cookies. Below is the inside of the card, sorry, it looks so blurry, I guess my hand was not very steady.Hope you all have a great weekend and keep those fingers inky. Remember to sign up for some blog candy in the post marked....Blogoverssary below, you have until Nov.20th.
Blurry little ginger bread boy. Cute verse says ...wishes for a Joyous season.

It's Blogoversary time

Sing to the tune from Howdy Doody Time...If you don't remember that one just hum along, and if you find that too hard well just fake it. Today we are celebrating my blogoversary. Hey, why do I give the gifts??? Why? Because I want you to so sit back with some cake and coffee or tea or milk and just sing and look and then if you want a chance for these goodies let me know by telling me your name. I know your Mommy told you not to talk to strangers but even though I'm a bit strange ....I've got the candy. I need some kind of communications for you to be entered for the chance to win. I've got a Christmas Martha Stewart stamp set, a Scrappy Stamper stamp set, some wonderful rhinestone embellishments, some sparkly snow stick ons, and a pad of K & Company background papers and some Christmas ribbons. So why are you just sitting there...stop singing and eating cake and leave me your hello. Happy Blogoversary to me !!!
I will give you all a chance to enter so the drawing will not be until the 20th. That's DD's real live birthday.

Baby it's Cold Outside

This is my winter card in my card for all seasons. I used the Flourishes poincettia set for my image and if you are asking why blue flowers??? Well you'd be blue too, if you were left out in below freezing temperatures with no coat on . Anyway this is simple, stamp with a bit of masking well with a lot of masking but it's worth it, color with water colored pencils, add some beautiful ribbon from Mike's place and a bit of matching bling and viola, you've got it. I showed the others just below in case you can't remember. Be sure to come back on Thursday as it is my blogoversary and I will be offereing up some candy. See you later.

All that glitters is not Gold !

Well this card caused a storm of glitter all over me and my crafting table. You ask why??? Well it seems like my ribbon spool bought at my buddy Mike's place was on sale for a reason, and that reason being....it sheds glitter. Well what can you expect when you buy ribbon on sale I asked myself trying to see through my glitter covered eyelashes. Anywho, I finally was disgusted and said to myself and to all of you....ENOUGH . So here is my card for the Friday challenge at
Sharon Johnson's notimetostamp blog. The boughs are stamped with a stamp from Santa Rosa and is a very old stamp ( though not as old as some people I know) and the phrase is from DeNami. And you know about the glittery ribbon. So that's it my friends and foes. Have a great weekend and keep those fingers dirty but stay away from cheap ribbon. Pay a little extra because you're worth it.

Stamp Simply - All Buttoned Up!

Meet Beaulah T Witch, who is all ready to do the Monster Mash on this happy day of Halloween. I'm sure you have seen little Ellie in her witch costume flyin high in the sky over the front lawn of the house. How cute her costume is, bright and colorful . She can be found on Julie's sight which is of course...outtoimpress. Have a great Halloween to you all and when we next meet....I will be back in my own neck of the woods. Have a great weekend to you all.

Sending Joy...

This is a very easy card done focusing on the DP which I picked up here in Billings at a wonderful shop. Used the Spellbinders snowflake die cut and just added 2 punched circles with the word Joy done in brick red. Of course for some added bling I used some gorgeous ribbon DD had on hand. Easy peasy but I think rather nice. Well I have to tell y'all ( that's western talk for you all), no luck on finding the cowboy yet. I'm going to have to have new heels put on my boots because I've worn them totally down in my search. All I've go to say is....cow puckies. These guys don't know what they are missing with this old broad. So I guess I will just keep my fingers inky and keep hugging the grandkids and call it a day. Happy Tuesday one and all.

Winter Wonderland

Well I guess you all know...I am in Big Sky Country aka Billings, Montana. I was coralled into a Stampin Up class by my DD Julie and so I will show you what we made. It's kind of cool and was really quite easy. It's a folder full of cute Christmas cards with snow flakes made out of felt that SU ( that's Stampin Up) sells. I was really more interested in coralling a cowboy over making cards but, I relented and went to the class. The folder is big enough to hold all 5-6 we made. Julie took the pictures for me so that is why they are so clear. Nice for a change eh? I agree she does a nice photo job. So take a look and enjoy.

I am having fun with my family here especially the grandchildren who I can't hug and spoil enough. Still on the look out for that special old toot who is ready for a good laugh and a fancy dance step or two. Seen some cowboy hats but so far nothing under them are of interest so I'll keep on with the big search. I'll be back soon so keep on stampin and having good laughs.

Quickie Card

This was a real quickie...not that kind of quickie but a card quickie. Done with a little wreath embellishment from Mike's place put out by Recollections. Neat 3 for $1
and that means 3 wreath cards. Cool ! the little Merry Christmas is from Morning Star and my ribbon was a real bargain from the dollar store, it was also 3 for $1. Funny thing about the dollar store...there is this old guy who is the manager and I think he's got a "thing" for me. Not only is he polite in the store but he's nice in the parking lot. He's not my type as he wears those gold chains hanging on a open necked shirt with his chest showing. UGH !!! Anyway, I leave for Montana in the early a.m. hours so I'll see some real men. Cowboys, wahoo. When we next talk, I will be in Big Sky country. Awesome!

Friday Challenge No Images Just Phrase

Well this is a toughie but since my friend Penny makes the most beautiful stamps with awesome phrases I used one of her's for this card. She is Penny Black in case you are not familiar. Just used a green marker to color up the phrase and then on to the matting. Background paper came from Mike's place along with some sweet organdy ribbon and some glitzy little stones. Cut a fancy corner with a designer punch and viola you have my card. Are you all ready for a glorious weekend of cider & donuts??
Well come on now if you don't get them soon they will be gone. Keep those fingers dirty and that cutter cutting but most of all...have a great weekend. Counting down the days until I fly out to DD's place and it's less then a week now. HOORAY !!!

I received some cards in the mail on Sat. from Toni who is
http://whimsicalthoughts-toni.blogspot.com/ She sent some adorable Halloween cards and I wanted to post them as they are so stinkin cute. Thanks Toni for helping make some kids at the hospital happy. A box load is going to the hospital on Thursday so Toni's will be included. Many thanks to Toni, and also to my DD Julie who sent me 100 cards to forward on to the kids. I'm sure the administrator Deanna will be overwhelmed by the huge donations. Friday Challenge Stamp Simply

Time for Friday challenge with Sharon Johnson whose blog is at http://notimetostamp.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ Sharon is a very elegant stamper who loves to be flamboyant with beautiful ribbons, a touch of the out of ordinary with a stick pin or you name it she finds it and turns it into a piece of art. My card is done on copper cardstock with a chocolate mat stamped and embossed with copper leaves. To try for some elegance I used deep brown chiffon ribbon and added a runner of copper embroidery threads, which I incorperated into my bow. Simple yet fancy too.
We are going for another beautiful autumn day here in Michigan and I'm planning on enjoying it. Have a great weekend everyone.

Love these Stickers

This sticker is from the page my Santa came from a few weeks ago. It is K & Company and the artist is Elizabeth Brownd. It is an awesome sticker sheet and I should be able to get at least 5-6 cards out of just the one sheet. I picked them up at my friend Mike's place. Also found this wonderful organdy ribbon and the crushed gold mat paper there too. I have to tell Mike that his shoppers are really improving in getting such high quality embellishments for us card makers. When I see him I think he deserves a big hug...don't you agree? He never seems to be in the store when I go so maybe I will have to give the manager John the hug to pass along. John is a cute old bald guy who is so darn helpful you can't help but like him. Well stampers, keep those fingers dirty and try to keep the glue dots where they belong. Talk soon.

Autumn in Michigan

Well our leaves are starting to show their glorious fall hues and I wanted to share a bit with you.
The bright red is our burning bushes which goes from a green to pink and to red. It is really a georgous sight to see. The close up shows you how it's getting to that bright red and the tree on the side of the road is at it's rusty red hue which will soon become a bright red as it is a maple.
Love this time of year and thought you Southerners might enjoy seeing what you miss during Autumn.

Three Little Tenors

Well this cute trio of snowmen represent the famous Three Tenors who I am having sing the praises to Becky Oehlers who is http://Hemidemisemiquaver.wordpress.com/ and who is this Friday's challenge to mimic. Well I can't begin to mimic some of these fantastic ladies but since Becky is an opera singer I am dedicating this card to her with my three tenors. They are singing
White Christmas in Italian ( hope that is operatic enough or kind of close). This is a rubber cling stamp that I have no idea who made it as I removed it from it's backing board and that is long gone. Anyway I know Becky uses ribbon and stamps clean and crisp so this is the best I could come up with. Happy weekend all you dirty fingered people out there in blogland. Don't forget tomorrow is World Card Making Day and try and join in the blog hopping fun.

A cute little begger

Well when I was a kiddo ( many moons ago ) we went out screaming "Help the Poor !", not
trick or treat, and it was called...going begging. My how times have changed. We went out until 10:00 at night with no worries at all and we never checked our bags for anything bad because nobody did anything bad back then. My neighborhood kids are pretty great kids and I love to see them in their costumes but this year I will miss it here as I'm going out to see the grand kids do their trick or treating and I'll probably take along a costume for myself . This is a very old stamp but one I love, isn't she the cutest little witch ! I just stamped and used my colored pencils, a bit of chalk and a few stickers for the bats. The little girl came from the dollar bin many years ago and is from a company called Westwater Enterprises, the phrase is Hero Arts and my little bats are from Recollections. So there you have it. Happy Tuesday to you all.

Help A Great Cause!

A few months ago, I helped my bloggin' bud Bela in her quest to create a bright spot in the lives of children in the pediatric unit in her area. I made some cards and notebooks for her next shipment and then, I got to thinking- why couldn't I start a project just like this locally and impact the kids in the greater-Detroit area? So, here I am with Cards 4 Kids! After talking with the administration at Children's Hospital, cards are needed for all ages (up to 20 years old). Cards 4 Kids will try to hit all the major holidays - Christmas, Hannukah, Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween, etc. We'll also send along Thinking Of You cards and Birthday cards as well. If you are willing and have the time to help out, I know these children who are facing so much at such a young age would appreciate it! I will be sure to take pictures and post every now and then to show the fun things that are headed to Children's Hospital! FYI: Cards should be left blank. These will be used by the caregivers and parents who are staying with their children at the hospital. It's a way we can help these parents lift the spirits of these children. Creations don't have to be a regular card with an envelope but could also be a decked out postcard size as well. I will also be creating altered notebooks so that parents have a purse size or pocket size notebook handy. It's not uncommon to have spur of the moment meetings with their child's doctor. Having a notebook handy is critical so that they have a point of reference for their child's medical care.

If you'd like to help put a smile on a sick child's face, simply email me at mrsmiley6@aol.com and I can give you mailing directions!

This is for Friday challenge ....be like Janine who is http://2bkrafty.blogspot.com/ and that would be Janine Orchard. She is a crisp clean stamper who has a real style about her and to copy that...well I don't think so. Anyway I gave it a college try. I used Hero Arts, and textured my mat with Fiskers texture plate leaving a spot for my flower, then just added some nice ribbon from Michael's and a few matching dew drops and it's good to go. Have a great weekend.

Cards 4 Kids

Here are a few of the cards I have done for Children's Hospital here in the Detroit area. I tried to keep them simple but in some cases it didn't work because there is a lot of coloring. I'm not complaining though as this is a good cause. My little fairy and clown were given on an image swap so I don't have any info on them, the little kitty is a puffy sticker from Mike's place. I will soon have a spot on my blog where if you are interested in sending me cards for the kids it would be greatly appreciated by me and the kids. So stay tuned for that. Thanks for taking some time here and hope your day is as beautiful as ours here in Michigan. It's in the high 70's and sunny, who could ask for more.

Happy Tuesday...Hope it's Wicked and Fun

This was a super easy card using a stamp from my buddy Mike's $1 bin. Love those bargains and how easy can it be to just stamp and mat a card? EASY !!! This is from Hampton Arts, just used my oval Nesties for two ovals, some cute Halloween DP also from Mike's place and to top off the hat a black stick on bead. Done and ready to send. Have a fun week to you all. Here in Michigan we are enjoying warm days and cool nights and the colors are starting their glorious change. Love this time of year.

Friday Challenge...Be like Jennifer Buck

Well last week it was Tammy and this week it's Jennifer Buck. Come on people, are you kidding me?! Someone took some fantasy pills on these challenges, but being the good sport I am I decided to play along. Jennifer http://thebuckstampshere.blogspot.com/ is a sweet and simple stamper whose work is unique so I thought OK then.... do a simple and sweet card right? Well I just recently received my new large JustRite Christmas stamping set so....why not try it. I did this card with denim ink put out by Ranger using one of the Christmas stamps and then added the snowflakes which are Hero Arts. Put some nice navy ribbon to match that navy card and it is done. What do you think?? I think I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and yes before I leave I must tell you there is a mistake on this card and if you find it, well keep it between you and I , OK? Thanks. But if you want to tell me about it, feel free to.

Happy Wednesday

This Halloween card is done with a demensional sticker put out by Recollections ( never heard of them either ) found at Mike's place dirt cheap. Figured cheap is good so I'll make a card to send some goofy kid that loves spooky ! EEKS ! That looks scary. The phrase is from Hero Arts, well not the phrase but the stamped phrase is what I mean. The background paper is from Provo Crafts. Easy but hopefully useful.

Friday Challenge ..Cuddle with Tammy

Well today's challenge is to cuddle with Tammy of http:// stamphappy-tammy.typepad.com/ and that would be Tammy Hershberger. Tammy loves what's called homey, warm cards. I don't know if this is a true sample but she likes to sew and I did that element on my card. I wouldn't call what I did sewing it was more like torturing because I wasn't in the mood to sit and try to sew nice lines or even nice swirley lines but anyway...it is what it is as Einstein would say. This was a very easy card as it used some stickers purchased at my buddy Michael's craft store. What a guy! He has gotten pretty snappy with his great collection of stickers. These are from K & Company and designed by Elizabeth Brownd. The sheet is really fabulous and I can see production of at least 5 or more cards. So I used the old fashioned look, the sewing, and some beautiful ribbon from Mike's and there you have it. Happy weekend to all you dirty fingered ladies.

Autumn in Michigan

Well soon our leaves will be in their glorious rich colors, ranging from bright yellow, orange, rust, red and purples. It's a wonderful time here in Michigan with all the cider mills crowded with people to buy homemade donuts , apples, and of course that great cider. At our local mill, The
Franklin Cider Mill, it's hard to get near the counter because people come from all over to get that awesome tasting drink and those wonderful fall apples. This card suggests fall is coming fast and I love it. My leaf is a Blazing Star stamp and the phrase is from DeNami. Weather here is beautiful after an all night rain. Hope you are all enjoying your week so far.

The start of my project for Children's Hospital

These little notebooks are the start of my project for our Children's Hospital in Detroit. I have about 10 finished along with some Halloween cards . I am presently working on some birthday cards. Bela does this in Toronto for the sick children's hospital there. You can check her out at

http://belascreatingplace.blogspot.com/ . She was my inspiration to get this program started here and I am really glad the administrator liked it and gave me the go ahead. When I am really up and running I will post a notice to anyone wanting to send me cards to take there. They would be greatly appreciated. The notebooks are for the parents to write important information about meds, appts. etc.

Well it's a new week...go out and make it the best you can, I plan to do just that.
