Weds.Dec.12th. Tumbled Marble Tiles

This is an old project;however, some of you may not know about it so here goes. You can buy these tiles at Home Depot or Lowes Hardware. They come in a box of 9 BUT!!! take each tile out and examine them before you buy a chipped or cracked tile. They run about $7 a box so you can make at least 2 sets of coasters for that low price. I stamped my leaves first, made a mask of the leaf and used it on the tile and then stamped the writing. I used Brillance ink because you need to have archival type ink or it may wash off. I love the way the inks work, nice metalic classy look. I used different colors but what you see is Midnight Black and it comes out gold like. Once you have stamped up a couple sets you're ready to bake the color in. Put tiles in a cookie sheet that has either waxed paper or a brown bag cut to fit. pre-heat oven to 250 degrees and bake for 20 mins. This sets the ink so water won't wash it off. I backed my tiles with cork and used a tile sealer. The little stand was something my husband came up with. I sold these for $30 a set but also gave some as gifts. Very easy and oh so nice.

Very nicely done. I haven't played with tiles for awhile either so must get mine out again after Christmas.

These look fantastic! Ironically I had just went out and bought some tiles tonight to make some coasters! My designs are not as nice as this but still pretty good.

Hi Pat,
I read your question weather the ink and chalk would come off on the tile. I will have to try it, I haven't used it yet. I did seal it three times, once with matte, then gloss, then matte sealer again. I'll test it tomorrow :)
