Tags using Crafty Secrets

Well as you can see I have plenty of time on my hands so I decided to put some of it to good use. One of my friends saw my tags when I was doing Sharon's birthday bash day and she called & asked if I wasn't going to use them, that she would be thrilled to have one. Well being the nice lady that I am I decided to do a couple and ended up with 14 so far. I plan to send some to DD Julie as she is really the package wrapper in this family. Her gifts are wrapped like those you see at one of those fancy exclusive shops and I always hate to tear them open. These are easy and fun to create using Crafty Secrets journal pads and also their wonderful cotton scraps. I like to use my different Spellbinder die cuts to make them a bit more interesting. I added different ribbons, some bling, and a bit of glitter here and there fini !
My dear friend Clara ( the one who is in her 90's) fell and broke her hip and was put in a nursing home so I am going to visit her today and hopefully bring some laughter with me. Love that old lady ! Happy Sunday and I'll see you all soon.

Leave your comfort zone...Yikes that's scary!

Today at notimetostamp# 102 is to leave your comfort zone....Wow that's a toughie!
Well I don't really have a true "comfort" zone, so I decided to do something out of the box. Have you ever seen a brownish Christmas card??? Well, me neither. But, I said " Oh heck, this Crafty Secrets cotton scrap is just too lovely not to figure something out for its use! Soooo....I made a brownish-tone Christmas card and you know what? I like it a lot. It's different and I think quite classy to boot. I love the phrase and the Santa is so bee-utiful for a guy. It's puzzling to me that it looks like he's got a bow and arrow over his shoulder and I'm kinda worried because you know I've been bad so I'm probably in big trouble. Help! I'll try to be a good girl, I promise.

I've used my Nestie's fancy rectangle on both my image and mat which is out of a lovely gold card stock and then I matted on a soft brown tone piece before placing on my white card that I distressed with a few colors of chalk and made a ruffled edge. My ribbon is from Mike's place and my bow done with none other then the fantabulous Bow Easy. Gosh I love that little thing a majig now that I finally can do it. And to end my card, I had to add some bling that I self colored in a brownish tone. Those Sharpie pens color up those jewels really nice. To see what the other ladies did please see the list below with their links....Great Stampers each and everyone of them!

Timeless Tuesday...use pearls

Well good golly Miss Molly here I am again on time for Flourishes challenge, I guess wonders never cease. I got their new stamp set just last week and was really wanting to use it ...so here it is. It's the Gerbera Daisy set which although these flowers bloom in many colors when I did up this card they looked like asters to me so I guess I'm just a real ass...ter and colored them in my own way. I had a horrible time glueing my Nestie cut down as the mono-adhesive was so gluey ( is that a word??? I heard of Huey and Dewy but is there a gluey??) I was sticking to the card along with my image. But as you can see I finished it off OK. It's the Flourishes Gerbera Daisy set which I used my colored pencils on, added some chiffon ribbon of lilac color on my lilac colored cardstock and if you notice on my little Nestie phrase card( also used the rectangular die) I added my lilac colored PEARLS, as the challenge called for. Why is lilac spelled that crazy way when you say it like lie lock...oh they are always trying to make us old people crazy. So then I also ( almost forgot to tell you ) used my Fiskars scallop punch to make a cute border for the bottom of the card. Hope you are all well and happy and have a good start in this new week. Is it just me or is the English language confusing? I know the answer...it's just me. It's a crap getting old.

Feedblitz... burner... and all that jazz

I got an email the other day from Feedblitz saying that if I wanted to keep offering email subscriptions, I would have to pay. Because I am not all that computer literate, I just switched my email subscriptions to Feedburner. If you signed up for Feedblitz and don't get my updates any longer, I put a new subscription box up so you can re-sign up if you like!

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Let's Polka... shall we???

Well today's challenge at Sharon's is to polka...now don't get your panties in a ruffle, she means use polka dots on your card. Well I wanted to dance the polka too, so you're not alone;however, at my age I don't think I could do it justice the way I did in my 20's. I dated a Polish fellow and we danced the polka down at a little neighborhood bar to the music of Stan Bejniak's Polish band( of course I didn't spell that name correct! I'm not Polish). What fun and if you think aerobics gives you a work out...try doing the fast polka for a few hours. Fun but also pretty hard on the heart and airways. But back to the business at hand. This little polka dotted number used K & Company DP on the top,( it's a mod type of polka dots, don't you think?) some red & white polka dotted ribbon from Mike's and a little pd( short for polka dots) black and white chipboard flower along with my circle Nesties. The stamped butterfly is part of a set from Impression Obsession and the phrase is from Hero Arts. Of course I added some bling in silver and red.
Check out the super design team's work ...these ladies are GOOD!

Timeless Tuesday...on Tuesday WOW!!!

Well I'm ready, set, go today and got my Tuesday card done for a change on Tuesday. Yea, I know you have longer then just one day to do it yet I think if it's called Timeless Tuesday you should do it on Tuesday. Today Dee is calling the shots...I'll take a gin and tonic with a lime twist but not until around 6 p.m. but since it really is a challege shot, she is calling for the use of red, black, and olive colors. Love that combo and it's bound to make for some bee--utiful cards. My little number is done with a black card base followed by olive, red, and white. I stamped with olive ink to create my background on the white using a Scrappy Cat clear set. I found this gorgeous ribbon at Mike's and just had to have it. My little phrase is from SU or Stampin Up as you more refined ladies and gents might say, put on my Nesties little circles. Tied my bow with the fabulous Bow Easy and I'm finished! Now it's your turn to play in Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge too...so go to your stamp room and get stampin. You can click on my Timeless Tuesday button to get to the sight for all the details and see the gorgeous cards made by the team.

Hey It's a Party!!!

Today... it's a big ole Happy Birthday to Sharon Johnson and the Stamp Simply challenges!!! Today, is challenge number 100 for Sharon and she wants us all to... do a little dance, sing a little song, get down tonite (or today as the case may be)!

In honor of the day, it's a party and you are ALL invited to come in for some fun and prizes. Party time means prizes doesn't it?? Well I'm definitely lovin' today and I know you will too. I am showing some Christmas gift tags that I conjured up for today's party.

This tag is made with cotton scraps from Crafty Secrets and to give it a little pazazz I placed it on my Nesties curved rectangle , matted with both green and gold cardstock and added some glitter to the holly berries. Finished it off with a green satin ribbon from Mike's place and put a little glitzy stud with a red rhinestone. Gotta have bling or is that you gotta have heart? The back is below. I made the back using the Rejoice set from Flourishes. Bet you thought I would leave the back side up to you eh? Well that would be arse backwards and I didn't want to be a ...oh figure it out for your self kind of gal, so I did it for you. Sweet ! Well keep looking 'cause below is tag #2 and then you'll see my big birthday party surprise for one of you lucky ladies or gentlemen. Gosh I love this party already!! This is a sweet Mr. Snowman (must be a papa cause you can see his little boy...so sweet!) which is another of the Crafty Secrets for Christmas time. Used my Nesties again with one of the labels #3, I love this cut and also used the snowflake one that Spellbinder's put out but since that just wasn't enough I added some of SU's white snowflakes to make sure I got really full and fluffy snowflakes. Added some little stick on flakes and some bling....Essential stuff!

So now it's time for my big surprise in celebration of this 100th. challenge...Can you sing Happy Birthday dear Sharon and her wonderful challenges??? Well my present is...are you excited and just ready to wet your panties with expectation??? My present to one of you is $ Ka-ching!!! A $25 gift certificate to Sharon's Stamp Simply store for you to buy some wonderful May Art's ribbon or whatever you decide to spend this money on. Sharon will be waiting for me to tell her which of you is my winner and then you can head on over to spend the dough. It will include the shipping fee so remember that when you are spending, include your shipping and go up to $25. Sharon already is in possession of the money so go spend it dear winner. Timeless Tuesday Wednesday...late again

Well as pretty much usual I am a day late with my Timeless Tuesday card but my excuse is...I wanted to make sure it was a pretty card so the wonderful designers for Flourishes would look at it and say " Wow". Just kidding I was so busy yesterday I couldn't get to it so here it is today. I used my set called, I think, Gratitude or Thanks from Flourishes and went for the Parrot tulip which is a bee-utiful stamp. I just stamped and water colored penciled it and tried something a bit different. Rather then use ribbon I cut my DP in strips and sort of jazzed up the top with them and added some little pearls to set them off. My bottom is my scored part. Easy card .

I must tell you the picnic was a bust. First of all the weather was 97.8 degrees and so humid you could hardly breathe but far worse was the old "walker wenches" who have the bad habit of rolling those wheeled suckers right over any feet that get in their way. I was like "Ouch!" and was ready to start a fight ....but being the sweet lady that I try to be, I let it pass. I figure in another 10-15 years that might just be me. Happy Hump day fellow rubber necks.

That's What Friends Are For....

Well I know you won't believe this because I can't even believe it BUT...I was asked to be the guest designer for August at Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply challenge, which is a Friday event that I love to join in on!! Guess poor Sharon finally gave in and said " this old lady is not going away." Can you hear the silent scream???EEEEH!!! So here I am and my smile is glued on from ear to ear all teeth showing even though it may be a bit scary for some of you to see. My cup is running over right now...to heck with the half full stuff, I'm going for full and then some!

Today's challenge is That's What Friends are For (ssnotime99), so make a card for a friend. I love that song "Keep smiling, keep shining la la la la..."quit singing and look at my entry. My card is done with a phrase from Stampendous that I love because friends are a special gift from God. I used two of my Nesties to set off my phrase and my Flourishes stamp from the Sweet Peas set. If you're wondering how I got such a beautiful bow...well first of all I used some wonderful May Arts ribbon (won it in Shipshewana) and the great little gadget called Bow Easy. These can be bought from Sharon on her site by clicking here, I won mine as I already said. I colored my flowers with colored pencils and added a couple matching small pearls. Done! It was a simple card once I got started.

Weekend time once again and it's my church picnic so I'll be on the prowl for a cute old man who needs to share his table & perhaps a beer with some sweet old lady like myself. Happy weekend to all and thanks for stopping by!

Another silly card

Well Ok I promised I was through with the silly cards but....I lied. This little rabbit was the only one left in the set and was screaming at me...Hey you forgot me. I just had to put some ink on the little guy and slap him on a card. You probably wonder why he has pink cheeks don't you? Well the inside of the card says " oops it's a hare past your birthday!" so the little guy is a bit embarassed. Love this set and for those of you who have asked I went through some SU catalogs and found the set in the 2005-2006 book on pg. 87. How's that for devotion to my fans?? The set is called Birthday Banter # 103814. Now I don't promise you'll be able to find it but it's worth a try if you like it. Get in touch with your SU rep. and give that woman the chore to find it and sell it to you. My birthday greeting is from Just Rite and my paper from K&Co. Have a sweet day good friends. It is cloudy here so it's an inside day I guess.
Yesterday I took a crocheting lesson so I can make my own little flowers to put on cards. I'll truly be making them to send to DD Julie but I may keep one or two for me. Please don't swamp me with requests until I really know what I'm doing...the first one looks like a perfect job since the teacher was by my side helping. I'm off...yes in more ways then one.

Timeless Tuesday @ Flourishes

Well today at Flourishes it's Timeless Tuesday time and we are to use metal in some way shape or form. I'm not into "heavy metal" like that hard rock music stuff but I was able to find some little zipper pulls put out by All My Memories and decided this would work Ok. Easy card because my paper which is BG porcelin is the base and I used 2 of my Nesties along with my Stampendous thank you and there you have it. Glued that sucker all together and added a organdy ribbon tied to the grateful zipper pull and I am good to go.
It's hotter then hells bells here today and so it's time to crank up the AC and just stay inside. Us old folks have to be careful not to get a heat stroke and fall down drop dead but as for ME....I'm putting on the bathing suit and heading for my backyard pool. Time to get wrinkly brown. Happy day.

Fish can be Stinky!

Yes I'm sure you've heard the expression...vactioning relatives are like fish, after a few days they begin to stink. That's why I make it a point to never stay to long when I go to visit. This is a stamp from that fun collection from Stampin Up, member the floral cow and the cute little frog? Well this is one of the last cards I will make from this collection I promise. The inside of this one says...from some of your closest friends. Kinda cute isn't it! Used just some colored pencils, my Nesties, and the Stampin Up stamps. Happy Monday people!
Gave out over 50 bags of groceries this a.m. at the food pantry, the numbers are growing and growing. Hope things get back to prosperity soon. Happy new week.
