Friday challenge....Sympathy

Today's challenge at notimetostamp is sympathy. Well some of you out there are saying you need a stash but I'm an old lady and surprising enough and even more so happily I have not had to use a sympathy card in way over a year. Thanks be for that. I guess us oldies are goodies and we are determined to hang in there for a bit longer. With this dang snow though I'm not sure just how much longer I can....just kidding. Thank God for a snow blower! This card is so simple it does qualify for a stamp simply challenge . Took out my Spellbinder die cut and don't ask the # as I'm tired of running back and forth to check that out and if it's that important just write me an e-mail. Used black cs and then the background paper is K& Co. ( pad of all black and ivory designed..love it), some ivory cardstock to do a mat, and my stamp is Stampendous, simple yet a classy cursive. I added some black narrow velvet ribbon and that was that.
Well good people and even you naughty ones, have a splendid weekend.

Timeless Tuesday....flowers

Hey guys it's time for Timeless Tuesday at Flourishes and today we are to use flowers on the card. Well I picked out the Tiger Lily from the calendar set and before you start getting all snarkey and being a rocket scientist and telling me Tiger Lillies are orange...like Dah, I know it but I decided to pretend they are a more sophisticated lily like the beauties I have in my garden. I think I have almost every color you can spit out and ask about. I even have one that is a stunning brown...yes you read right I did say brown. Also if this card looks a tad familiar well I guess I CASE'd myself and how pathetic is that you ask. Well my plan is to do a little note set and I have chosen the flowers in the calendar set, starting with the pansies below. So there smarty pants I knew I was doing a copy and said well that's alrighty. So let's review, the calendar set, my Nestie , some color pencil coloring and slap it down, add a few blingers and you are fini and off to the next project for today. I'm thinking some flavored coffee. We ended up with 8 " of snow and my blower was working overtime to clear the driveway. My nasty postman didn't leave any love letters, he just rode on by because he didn't think my box was clear enough. The old toot! It was perfectly clear and he was just being a nasty. Praying for no more snow for a few days at least. Take care one & all and have a good week.

Friday challenge...tab it with a twist

Well today's challenge at notimetostamp is to put a tab on it. Now I'm not very good at putting a lid on it but will try to do a tab and join in the fun. So I thought about this for awhile and remembered my buddy Ray at church turned 80 in December and he was gone to California and was coming back soon so.....a belated 80th. birthday for the old boy. Well when you think of being aged you ( at least me) think of maybe wine or vintage cars and since I gave up wine drinking for Lent, I went with an old car. I thought...old man, old car, but I have to tell you Ray is 80 chronilogically speaking but he's at least ten years younger in his body and brain. Really a nice old guy. An old car could be a clunker or a classic...I chose a classic. I used a car stamp from a gift from my friend Mary, it's an Angel Stamp Co. and they have some sssweet cars in the set. I put it on some patterned paper from K & Co. along with some brown cs., used my Nesties # something or other and made a receipe tab and stamped my congrats with a Flourishes stamp from their tag along set. So there you have it..oops I did put on some ribbon and one little blinger and fini. ( that's Frency y'know eh!) I think I need an intervention for my addiction to blingers. I realize this tab is not twisted but then I am so that's my play on the twisted tab...take it or leave it.
Happy weekend dear bloggers and let's hope we are not all snowed in. My brother on the west coast of Florida had snow this past week. Baby it's cold outside all over. Take care and enjoy.

It's Timeless Tuesday Time...hip hoorah!

Well today is Timeless Tuesday @ Flourishes and of course I want to play along. Darling Dee is asking us to do an "All about Me" card. Well my dears how can that possibly be I asked myself, there is too much to tell. But I thought a bit and because of my love for the garden and flowers I decided to do the cyclamen from the calendar set. This plant is like me ...bright, beautious, also calm and so soothing in character. OMGoodness enough of the phony bologna, but it is bright and the red is hot and spicy and I at least try on that one. This was a favorite for Valentine's Day and decked the tables in our after service breakfast tables . Beautiful! Well on to the card...just stamped and colored with my water colored pencils ( as usual, I know pretty boring) as I love them and think they do the color job I want. The sentiment is from Flourishes tag along set, which has every little thing you want to say..love it. Used my Nestie ovals for my matting on some embossed white paper. Added a bit of bling and I am done. Sorry for the crappy photo but it's a dreary day and it is getting dark out. Yeah, I wonder what I did all day too.

Woke up to a shoveling job of about 3 inches and it was clear all day but it's started up again. When in the blankety blank is this winter going to hurry up and get over? Happy week peeps.

I'm taking some time this afternoon to reflect on all the happy days when I did have my Valentine by my side & all the fun we had together. So friends be sure and enjoy this day for love...be it with friends, family , or that special partner you have. Love love love that is what the world needs now...along with some hope for a better tomorrow.

Friday Challenge ...Purple and Green

Well today's challenge on notimetostamp is to use purple and green. I have to tell you I thought this color combo would make me want to regurgitate( fancy way of saying puke) but as it turned out I just got a bit green around the gills trying to figure it all out. Guess it's not too.....bad. I found this awesome paper at Mike's place before I even knew what the challenge was and bought the DP, ( Recollections purple damask with matching cardstock)the cardstock, ribbon, and the blingers. Instead of having the blues, I have the purples. That's when you're just a bit unsure if you feel bad or good. Not to worry as I feel ,Ok at least. This card is stamped with the pansy part of the new calendar set from Flourishes. I think I really love this set and hopefully will get around to making a full calendar before December rolls in...never rush into something, just take it slow. I just stamped and colored with my faithful water colored pencils, used my Nestie label # 4...did you notice a big pause there while I ran to my craft table and searched out the correct # for the Nestie? I wished they just called them as we see them, like a fancy die cut to make mats with. Anyway to bring in the color green I decided to take the same die size and cut it at both the top and bottom and kind of fit it under the white matt and guess what fellow stampers??? It worked out pretty nicely. Then add some satin purple ribbon and a couple of purple blingies and you're done. Guess the color combo is not that bad afterall. What say you???
Well the weekend is upon us and all of you that have a fella or a gal can hopefully have a very lovely time on Sunday when good old cupid flies in and sends an arrow into your buttinsky to remind you it's Valentine's Day. So take some thyme and add a bit of spice to your life with the one you love. I'm wishing you all a Happy Heart's Day in advance. I will cry in my beer alone but not to worry as my tears will probably be due to some sappy movie on Lifetime Network... and boy do they ever have some sappy movies. Happy Valentine's Day to all.

AND THE WINNER IS....

Well I did the random select and the lucky number is 22 and that is Stacy Fisher. So if you're still out there and coming around to visit my site...You won! Please contact me at mrsmiley6@aol.com with your address so I can get your blog candy in the mail. Some of you missed the list because our mail delivery was kaput today...my mailman is a real bummer who will not deliver when we get big snow storms and ours was about 8 inches. The road was perfectly clean but he had a big fat pout and said no can do. So if your cards arrived after Weds. I was not able to wait for you. I got the 3 last people on the list today because they were on the priority basis and he had to bring them to me. If your cards arrive tomorrow Thursday or later they will go to the hospital on my next delivery and be put away for next year. Thanks and looking forward to hearing from Stacy Fisher so she gets her prize. You were all wonderful and I think you all deserve a round of applause....clap, clap, clap. Love you dearly .

No Card Today...too busy with Valentine Drive

I've been busy boxing up the Valentines to take into the city tomorrow. As of yesterday 2-9-10
I have received 1356 Valentines for the kids. WOW that is amazing and so apprecitated. Thanks to all that have taken part in this drive. You should feel really proud and blessed for what you have done to make a child's Valentine's Day a fun one, filled with beautiful hand-crafted cards.
I am waiting for today's mail because some have done express over night and God bless one awesome lady who spent $37 to get these cards to me on time. You know who you are and so do I. I will make my drawing for the blog candy in the early evening and post the name of the winner. It will be done with random draw so it is whatever the random number pick says. But I say I love you all for taking part in this wonderful project and if I could I would see that all of you got a prize but that's a big order . Take care and stop back tonight to see who the winner is.

Cards 4 Kids

Well I decided to whip up some "tines" for my program and when I talked to the director she said hey we can use some little ones for the young kids to just sign on a to..from basis. My picture is blurry and at first I just thought I needed to wash my glasses but nope it's a bit of a blur but I think you're smart enough to get the picture. I guess you might call these ATC's but I call them TLC which to me means tiny little cards for tiny little children. Got about 30 done and will keep at it until I reach a decent amount. Great way to get rid of bits of paper and all I did was use my 2 circle Nesties and some stickers from good old Mike's place. I hope you are all doing well and will pay you a visit soon. I have been trying to clean this old place of more then 30 years of junk. I'm way to old for this huge house and the up keep. Talk soon.

Timeless Tuesday Anniversary Challenge -- My Favorite Flourishes Stamp Set...

This challenge, the last of the night is thanks to Miss
Maki Jones. Her challenge was to use one of our favorite Flourishes sets. That's a hard one...I don't mean hard to stamp but rather hard to choose! I find all of the Flourishes sets are very high class and make up into beautiful cards.

I'm one of Maki's sample makers, so be sure to head on over to
THIS post to read up on her challenge and how to play!

I picked out Flourishes Sweet Pea set. I think they are so delicate and sweet as the name implies. I used my water colored pencils and just stamped and colored and used my Nestie's label # 3 for my mat. I love pink cards so I chose some sweet polka dotted pink sparkly paper from Mike's and some Bazzil pinkini card stock. My ribbon ( also from Mike's...I know I'm such a traitor) is an iridescent white pearlized ...did I use the word pearl..I did so I will put pearls in each corner to finish off my blingers. My phrase comes once again from Taglines set. And there you have it good people.

Once again it's a Happy Birthday to Timeless Tuesday! Check out THIS post for all the fun, games and chances to win free stamps! Hip hip hurrah!

Timeless Tuesday -- Frame It Challenge!

The Timeless Tuesday fun continues and... this time, it's Kimberly Crawford who is asking us to use a frame on our card. This is coming from Kimberly...hope "I'm" not being framed..what do you think, is this legit?Well I will go with the challenge and do a frame job.

I'm one of the sample makers for Kim's challenge. You can take a trip HERE to see the official challenge and get all the details.

I love the parrot tulip in this wonderful set called Thank You by Flourishes. You know tulips are like people, they really are, and you might ask why? Well they do come in lots of colors just like we do. I chose to color mine in yellowish orange tones. I'm using the delightful Basic Gray Lemonade paper as it's so cheerful and spring like as are tulips. My frame job is using my Spellbinder's oval Nesties. Soft green satin type ribbon and matching bling to make a sophisticated statement. I added the phrase from Flouishes new set of phrases Taglines, that says just about anything you want it to say...well almost anything.

Want to know more about Kim's challenge? You can click HERE to visit Kim's challenge post and you can click HERE to visit the main Anniversary Challenge post that fills you in on all the fun, games and.... PRIZES A.K.A "free stamps!"

So, have some fun and play along with us gals!

For my card I just stamped and used my water colored pencils, my Nestie circles both the regular and the scalloped. I added some bling here and there and for my phrase I attached it to one of my new Fancy Tags. Red and black...great color combo for heart day.
